Car Port Potager

Updated: Mar 29, 2019

Coming back to Dubai and leaving Jane in Herefordshire at the barn I had a new appreciation of the carport potager. I have talked about the differences in the available space before. It is amazing how much you can wring out of a small space for vegetables. For the Herefordshire grand plan I have asked for 8 raised beds. I have a long time to plan for those but broadly Asparagus, other perennials (maybe artichokes !), Dahlias for cut flowers, a potato crop, brassicas, legumes (peas and beans), more root crops (in rotation) and salad vegetables. That will be years in the making. In the meantime and, ironically, I can see myself growing more in Dubai. Not so much frustrated as inspired to try and get some new economies going.
