Habanero Hot Sauce

Actually a mixture of habanero and red peppers in a pickling brine. The idea is to pickle first and then to whizz into a sauce.

Despite the use of plastic gloves I wasn't as disciplined as I needed to be - treating the family to much mirth as I retreated to the loo with a glass full of milk and another of vegetable oil to treat my burned private parts. Yes even two hours later a stray dose of habanero juice on my hand caused a toiletry incident. I know you hear jokes about it - I can only say it was 30 minutes of my life I'd prefer not to repeat. Imagine the feeling on your lips for a hot chili multiplied by 10. Cold milk is the way to go - deeply humiliating and somewhat bizarre sitting on the throne with your fellow hanging in a glass of milk.

Other news saw the second draft of the plan turn up - the addition of a compost bin area closer to the kitchen garden and a larger bed next to the garage. With the heat rising to 45-48 degrees this weekend, and despite both boys being back here from respective travels I would really like to be the UK this Eid. Just 24 hours of hacking and slashing would feel good for the soul. Not long now and then we are sitting down with the landscape contractors in the UK to discuss "Phase 1".

The green house has sourced to Griffin Glasshouses. Some significant saving needed. It could take a year of two to get the funds together. I very much feel the plan settling. Jane and I can now chat about different things. I have deliberately taken the focus of my activity well away from the house - I will focus on the kitchen garden, pond and wood. There should be enough - perhaps with one border to grow a few Dahlias to keep me happy.
